JENNIFER, WHERE WERE YOU BEFORE YOU JOINED EYES WIDE OPEN’S MONEY MAP TO FREEDOM PROGRAM? WHAT WAS YOUR CHALLENGE, WHERE WERE YOU STUCK?
I came to the Money Map Program after having successfully created and sold my online program, which guides students through the college application process. Last year, I tripled my revenue and my students got even better results, which was very exciting. That’s when I realized my method really works and that people are excited about hiring me to work with their kids. Now that I had a viable business and confidence in it, I knew that I had to strengthen my foundation so that I could keep growing while still providing the best possible support for my students and creating the best possible life for myself.
I knew I needed the Money Map to Freedom Program. I had a good accountant, but until I started the Money Map Program, I never mapped out my numbers. I avoided doing anything like that. I’ve always lived within my means. But I never did my numbers because it always seemed like it was a punishment. Everything I’ve ever read about how to figure out your finances seemed punitive to me. I always felt the author was trying to force me into a budget and into cutting back. Also, no one in my family really talked about money, so I grew up
I was feeling kind of confused and mystified by it. I’m the parent of a five-year-old daughter and didn’t want to pass that on to her. It’s so disempowering not to know. So I really wanted to get clear and get over some of the fears.
AND HOW HAS THE MMAP PROGRAM HELPED YOU RESOLVE THOSE CHALLENGES?
The program has helped me clarify my understanding of the true value of my Get Yourself Into College™ program, my Money Map number, and the needs of my students and their families, which has made it easier for me to start creating a pricing model that benefits everyone. Structuring my business to make sure that I meet all these needs in a way that aligns with my values and my mission is an ongoing process that’s much easier now.

WHAT IS YOUR VICTORY?
The biggest triumph so far has been overcoming my fear and avoidance of numbers and raising my consciousness about them. That’s been really liberating and positive for me!
WHAT ARE YOU ABLE TO DO NOW THAT YOU COULDN’T DO BEFORE?
I can look at my numbers on a regular basis, understand them, and make smart decisions based on them. Now I actually enjoy–not dread–this process.
HOW ARE THESE CHANGES CARRYING FORTH IN YOUR BUSINESS AND LIFE NOW?
The Money Map to Freedom Program has demystified money–not just in relation to my business but also in relation to the rest of my life. Once I did my numbers, I realized that I have more than enough to invest in doing things–like Pilates–to take care of myself. My daughter is very conscious of how much I’m working, and I’ve started having conversations with her about my work–why I’m so passionate about it and why I love spending so much time doing it. We’ve also started having initial conversations about money, values, and giving to others, which has just been really cool. When she gets older, I want her to feel excitement about work instead of feeling she has to work. So that’s been really beautiful. In terms of my business, I now have a very clear pricing structure and am starting to license my program to high schools (and run workshops) so that all kids have access to it even if their parents can’t afford even the basic online program. This is very important to me because I’m on a mission to transform the overwhelming college preparation and application process into a meaningful, exciting, and empowering experience that is accessible to all motivated students.
